Carry the News

Yay for ripped jeans and Converse! This look is so totally me in every aspect. Don't get me wrong, I love a little glam... But being comfy and cute is what I'm all about.

I've always been a huge fan of Chuck Taylor's a.k.a. Converse. Something about the solid white is so perfect for the summer, especially living in a large city and having to walk A LOT! They're super inexpensive and you can practically purchase them at any shoe store. These, I purchased at Akira just because there is one around the corner from me in Wicker Park.

I guess we can go from the bottom up! My distressed boyfriend jeans are from Zara, duh! The rip in the knee got a little out of hand after throwing them in the washing machine, but since they're meant to be a little grungy, you can't even tell. I probably wear these jeans like three times a week. Sooooo comfy and super edgy, which I love.

My clutch is probably my favorite part of this outfit! It was a gift from my friend Mary back home in Michigan. Since I majored in journalism and I love fashion, she got it for me as a graduation present!! A newspaper clutch, how perfect?!? It totally spiced up my entire outfit and on top of that it's a gift from someone I love. Shout out to Mary for being the best gift giver xo

I recently purchased my grey cropped sweater on sale at H&M for a womping TEN DOLLAS!!!! Cute for chilly days in Chi and wearable even in the winter time. Bam!
On my arm, I'm rockin my rose gold MK watch. Even though his watches are a little overplayed, I still love them and I definitely rock a watch as a signature piece ALL the time. Michael Kors is definitely reasonably priced, which is always a big plus.

Last but not least are my fav pair of Ray Ban aviators. The mirrored blue just sticks out like a sore thumb and I'm obviously not complaining about that! I wear them all the time, especially because I am sickly obsessed with buying designer shades.

I love this look. I feel like it truly described the essence of my style, from head to toe! Stay tuned for more looks this week!

P.S. I changed the font up a little! I might be revamping the site soon... Change is good.

When in Doubt, Wear Red

Red red red red red!!! I can't EVER get enough of it... It's such a perfect pop of color and so very fierce. I love it!

I just couldn't help but to overload on it for this blog post. First and foremost, that lips bag is probably the best thing I own. I bought it at a nearby Buffalo Exchange in Wicker Park for ultra cheap. I saw it in the window and was like, "Uhhhhhhh MINE!" This girl never passes up an opportunity to rock red lips so when I saw it as a clutch, it spoke to me.

For those of you who are unaware, Buffalo Exchange is a second hand store. There has never been a time when I leave there empty handed. The last time I was there, I snagged a McQueen scarf for sixty bucks! Tags still on it and errrrthaannnggg... Needless to say, I've loved Buffalo Exchange ever since I was a cast member on Real World shopping at the one in New Orleans!

My super skinny jeans were snagged this past weekend at Zara along with the asymmetrical black blouse I'm wearing. I really love a jean and classic black shirt look. I feel like it can't go wrong and can always be a go-to when in doubt. I loved the lowness of the shirt and I'm pretty sure I have a new obsession with showing a ton of skin up top. I think it might be because my hair is longer so I don't mind having it draped all over me lol!

Pumps are Christian Louboutin Lady Peeps. I'm selling them because they are forever eating my feet ;( But I had to snag one last photo before I send them off. I'll probably just be cashing them in for a less painful pair to be honest. They were too perfect for this look, I just couldn't resist!

I know, I should do some more close ups for y'all, I promise in the next look I will. I was just so excited about this outfit that I couldn't wait to post it! Next week I'll be doing a more casual look, can't wait to share!!

Orange is the New Black

It's been so long since I've posted on my blog!!! After moving to Chicago, I was so busy trying to find work and find an apartment (not to mention all the furniture shopping), that I could barely spare any time.

I feel GREAT though! My six month 'Move to ChiTown' anniversary is right around the corner and I couldn't feel more at home. It feels so good to be independent and living in a new city! I could go on for days about my new life here but lets just simply say, it's amazing.

Soooo, one great thing about living in a big city is the plethora of unique shopping at your fingertips. Not only do we have Zara and Topshop (places that people in the burbs drool over whenever they can get an hour inside), but we have the the best of certain collections, floors of great deals and AMAZING second-hand/vintage shops all over the city. Needless to say, I'm really excited to up the ante on my blog with some one-of-a-kind pieces!

To start the week off, I decided to do a 'look for less.' Nothing I am wearing is at all designer and most things were purchased on sale or even from last season. Living in the city is expensive and I wanted to prove that even though you sometimes feel like you have nothing in your closet, there is almost always a way to pull something fabulous together.

I was feeling a little risky and decided that I'm totally obsessed with this new fad of wearing nothing under your blazer. Obvi, fashion tape or buttoning might be necessary but it's super sexy and yet I still think extremely classy.

My blazer was so cheap! $20 bucks at H&M, I could hardly believe my eyes when I was in there! I saw it on the way out of the fitting room and immediately knew I had to have it. The color is awesome for the summer and Chicago has been called the Windy City for quite some time so when the nights get chilly, I'll be prepared.

My orange high-waisted pants are from Pitaya. There's one in my neighborhood, just a few streets from my apartment. I'm not a huge fan of all things Pitaya, but I feel like I can count on them for a super cute item from time to time. They are also super cheap which is amazing for me since I have to pay rent now -____-

My beaded clutch and peep-toes are both from ALDO. Also, purchased on sale sometime in the winter when I felt like I was missing the sun. Ya, they might have collected dust for a little while, but when the summer came... I was PREPARED! I really wasn't in a jewelry type of mood for this look.. I kept it simple and sleek. Sometimes, that's all I need.

The title of my post is dedicated to my new obsession with Orange in the New Black. Thanks to my roommate, it's really hard for me to leave the house mid-any episode and anyone who is in the same boat understands. A little Piper Chapman never hurt nobody... Well, except for that one girl in season one ;) Hahaha, yes... I am a HUGE dork.

In any case, weekly posts start now so sit back, relax and enjoy the fashion! Oh, and the never ending cheesiness... <3
